Like Franck Stella’s 60’s paintings where colour defines shape, Pierre Hardy designs his shoes by applying the same architecture and graphic principle. This structural concept is expressed through various polychrome geometric treatments : a game of straight and broken lines, circles or puzzles.

The guiding thread of this collection is the Alpha theme, which appeared last Spring and is declined today through new models : the Alpha Skinny sandal, the Alpha Mega platform low boot and the Cuban heel Alpha Camp boot. These shoes, influenced by the colour and shape reflections favoured by the American minimalist artists, are punctuated by the vibrant coloured stripes. The multi-coloured leather trims on the front of the shoe, the ankle strap or the arch of the foot define the actual structure of the models.

With hardly any narrative, a few optical illusions, two or three references to the stylistic 60’s, Pierre Hardy delivers an abstract and sensitive collection. The hypnotic repetitions of coloured stripes on his sculptural shoes sometimes flirt with the conceptual and sensual Op art images.
